A student at Cleveland State University has applied for the position of Peer Mentor with First Year Experience. This position involves being an assistant in a the Introduction to University Life seminar course (ASC 101) for first-year students as well as planning and coordinating out-of-class activities.Applicants should be excellent role models, possess leadership skills, be comfortable interacting with faculty and staff, and able to work effectively with others.
Note: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) gives a student a right of access to an evaluation written about him or her. Students will have the right to read this recommendation.

Additionally, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Under FERPA, it is illegal to release the academic records of any student without their prior written consent. Therefore, permission is needed.
